Teaching grade-level appropriate content is one of the best ways to help students succeed on state tests. Our goal in preparing this booklet has been to aid teachers and administrators in determining not only what needs to be taught at each grade level, but also the necessary progression of rigor between grade levels.

    By viewing the standards horizontally, you will be able to see the linear progression of a standard over the course of a K-12 education. Our hope is that you will be able to compare the standard you have chosen to the same or similar standards in the grades above and below your own to determine the level of difficulty needed in your classroom.
