Intensive STAR Analysis
California STAR test results; analysis and disaggregations
| |
This report includes disaggregations of the California STAR tests results and individual student results.
How can we use the Intensive STAR Analysis?
| |
When disaggregated, student assessment results can be used to zero in on
specific areas to improve instruction. Then next year, and every future year,
students will have been taught better, will know more, and will score higher.
(This will cause long term increases in student achievement.)
The individual student results can be used to select students for gap-filling
interventions to be provided in addition to day-to-day, grade-level instruction.
(This will provide only short term gains, however, since only the current students are
helped, not any future students.)
Disaggregations and analysis of the annual California STAR test results can be
used to measure, monitor, and improve student achievement.
This information can also be helpful in preparing presentations for staff or the public.
How does it work and what does the school need to provide?
| |
The school sends a copy of the test results file provided by the state.
DataWORKS programmers upload the data and generate the disaggregated results.
A one-inch binder with results in color along with individual student results are
prepared and shipped directly to the school. Separate binders are prepared for each
school plus a district binder showing school to school comparisons.
The analysis includes API, AYP, and STAR disaggregations by school, grade, performance
levels, Title I, English Learners, special education, GATE, gender, free lunch, parent
education level, and ethnicity. Features year-to-year cohort and non-cohort comparisons.
Student rosters are provided to show individual student results.
