Curriculum CalibrationSM Workshop

The Curriculum CalibrationSM Workshop is a one to two day all day staff development in the organization, rigor, and progression of the state content standards. Instructional leaders must attend to learn what the teachers are learning and to support effective and ongoing implementation.

What makes the Curriculum CalibrationSM Workshop important?
    Students must be taught on grade level because:

  1. Grade-level instruction provides equal opportunity for all students to learn.
  2. Students cannot learn what they're not taught.
  3. Students perform no higher than the assignments given.
  4. Students learn more when taught at a higher level than at a lower level.
  5. State tests assess grade-level content.
THE GOAL OF INSTRUCTION IS HIGH STUDENT SUCCESS ON GRADE-LEVEL CONTENT.

How long is the workshop and what does the school need to provide?
The Curriculum CalibrationSM Workshop is a one to two day all day staff development in the content standards. Handouts include training, standards, and generic samples of student work. No student-work is collected from the school.

Sometimes schools have a full day available for Curriculum CalibrationSM Findings, and the workshop will use their previously collected student work and calibration results. The school must provide a suitable location with a screen and an overhead projector for the all day staff development.
