| DataWORKS Classroom Productivity Index (DPI) Classroom Monitoring |
| |
A DataWORKS researcher along with the school’s leadership team visit
classrooms to measure Time on Task and to collect student work for analysis
Why is DataWORKS Classroom Productivity Index (DPI)
Classroom Monitoring
valuable?
| |
Ongoing measurements of instructional processes are important.
If processes are not improving, corrective action needs to be taken
since students are not being taught in the most efficient and effective
manner.
The DPI monitoring measures a snapshot of Time on Task, and alignment of
assignments to standards.
High time on task is important to maximize student learning.
Students taught below grade level are essentially prevented from doing
well on grade-level state tests.
Classroom lessons must be on grade level to advance student knowledge and
properly prepare students for annual grade level state tests
What is DataWORKS Classroom Productivity Index (DPI)
Classroom Monitoring
and how does it work?
| |
The DataWORKS Classroom Productivity Index (DPI)
Classroom Monitoring Classroom uses walkthroughs to measure and
monitor time on task and curriculum alignment.
A DataWORKS researcher along with the school’s leadership team
visit classrooms to measure Time on Task. In addition, they collect a
copy of the assignment being taught from each teacher. Following the observations,
they determine Time on Task and calibrate the assignments for alignment to standards,
and breadth of coverage. A presentation of the results is made to the entire staff after
school.
