EDI® Workshop

The Explicit Direct Instruction Workshop is an all day (one to two days) staff development in the designing and teaching of effective and efficient lessons that help students learn more and learn faster. Instructional leaders must attend to learn what the teachers are learning and to support effective and ongoing implementation.

What makes the Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) Workshop important?
The most important factor in student learning is the teacher in front of the classroom. This DataWORKS training uses the teaching method found to be the most effective and efficient especially for low achieving students. Based on DataWORKS research including observations of 25,000 teachers.

What will the Explicit Direct Instruction Workshop attendees learn?
The Explicit Direct Instruction Workshop is an all day (one to two days) staff development in the designing and teaching of effective and efficient lessons that help students learn more and learn faster. An EDI lesson is based on the design and delivery method where students learn more and learn faster. (DataWORKS’ most requested training from schools across the United States who need to improve student achievement.)

After initial staff development, teachers develop their own lessons and present parts of their lessons to the group. Includes lesson design components:

  7. Explaining, Modeling & Demonstrating
  8. Guided Practice
The workshop includes an overview of incorporating Differentiated Instruction, SDAIE English Learner Strategies, and Cognitive Strategies into a well designed lesson.

What does the school need to provide?
The school must provide a suitable meeting room with a screen and an overhead projector for the all day training.
