| Explicit Direct Instruction to Teach Writing Classroom Coaching |
| |
|
A DataWORKS researcher goes into the classroom to observe and provide coaching to
teachers while they teach lessons on writing to the students.
Instructional leaders must attend to learn how to do
Classroom Coaching to provide support for effective and ongoing implementation.

Why is Explicit Direct Instruction to Teach Writing
Classroom Coaching
valuable?
|
| |
The most important factor in student learning is the teacher in front of the classroom.
Research has shown that no matter how well intentioned, effective staff development requires
extensive monitoring, feedback, and coaching to facilitate effective implementation
amongst all teachers.

valuable?

A DataWORKS researcher goes into the classroom to observe and provide

|
|
The principal schedules teachers for observations and provides this
schedule in advance to DataWORKS. The teachers should be teaching
the writing lessons already reviewed during the Lesson Plan Feedback day.
The principal (and other administrators) must accompany and be trained to make
observations and then continue to observe over additional days until all teachers are
observed and provided coaching.
|
|
This process should be repeated until all teachers can effectively teach writing to all students.
